This blog article is for you if your New Year commences with a new commercial building project. We thought we’d share some tips to help you get your groundworks’ to-do’ list organised so your West Sussex project starts as you mean to go on, organised, on time and on budget!
New Year, New Commercial Building Project
As a groundworks company based in West Sussex, we’ve been present at the beginning of many commercial building projects. For the purpose of this article, we’re assuming that you have completed the initial pre-design and design phases. And also that your pre-construction phase is all in hand and that you have the necessary permits in place.
Groundworks on your project:
You’ll want your chosen groundworks contractor to be involved from the very start of your project.
The to-do list:
☑️ Our job begins with site preparation. This may involve demolition works of an existing building or clearing of vegetation, and it will certainly include site excavation.
☑️ Next on the list is to get beneath the surface. At this stage, we’ll be completing preliminary work for laying utilities and drainage.
☑️ Then we move on to foundations; one of the most important elements of any commercial building project. The strength of a building lies in its foundation. The primary purpose of the foundation is to hold the structure above it and keep it upright. But it also needs to help the building withstand strong winds and flooding, and prevent moisture intrusion.
After this, it’s time for your construction team to move forward with the actual construction phase. But we won’t say goodbye just yet. Because contrary to popular belief groundworks companies aren’t just with you for the start of a project, we’re there at the very end too.
☑️ When most of the heavy construction traffic has left the site of your commercial building project we come back for the final phase. Your staff and clients will need access to your new building and car parking. It’s your groundworks contractor that will complete all of this work so that when you open your doors to the public everybody has safe access.
