At Timberley Projects, we love our local area and landscape. Many people enjoy the beauty of West Sussex in so many different ways. The beautiful South Downs offer a perfect backdrop for biking, hiking, and horse-riding! In this week’s post, we thought we’d concentrate on how we can help local equestrians as we head into winter. Read on to discover more about the equestrian groundworks services we offer.
Equestrian Groundworks & Preparing for Winter:
You may very well have noticed a chill in the air if you’ve been out and about on an early morning hack. So the time has come to think about completing any equestrian groundworks that will keep your four-legged friend happier, healthier, and safer over the colder months. Here’s a list of things with which we can help.
Keeping them Happier:
Your pony loves to exercise. Don’t let winter frosts and icy roads stop you from keeping them active.
At Timberley Projects, we build all-weather surface, fully-fenced sand schools. Because we are specialists in equestrian groundworks we always ensure the correct drainage system is installed. Thereby protecting your new sand school for many years to come.
Keeping them Healthier:
Ensuring your horse has a plentiful supply of fresh, clean drinking water is as essential in the colder, winter months as it is in summer. Don’t walk around in the mud with a bucket; let us install water troughs in each paddock and your stables along with associated pipework.
Keeping them Safer:
If you stable your pony in winter, you may have already begun to prepare his shelter for the months ahead. Many of you will have emptied the stable of bedding and rugs to carry out a seasonal clean. Now is an excellent time to check the state of repair of your stable base.
If you’ve decided to invest in new stables for your pony this year, talk to us about getting your foundations right. We supply concrete stable bases throughout West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and beyond. These are generally designed using a raft foundation. This type of foundation is a reinforced concrete slab, ‘floating’ on the ground. It spreads the load of your stable building over a larger area than other foundations, lowering the pressure on the ground.
