There’s a common misconception that as a groundworks company, we are all about bricks and mortar! And while it’s true that our team are present on many a building site, we also get to spend time at fabulous rural locations working to keep horses and ponies fit and healthy. That’s because we provide equestrian groundworks services throughout West Sussex. In just a couple of weeks (on 13th December), it’s time to celebrate the Day of the Horse. To mark the occasion, we thought we would share some of the work we do for our four-legged friends (or their owners!).
Equestrian Groundworks Services – How We Help:
Keeping your horse fit:
At Timberley Projects, we build all-weather surface, fully-fenced sand schools. Because we are specialists in equestrian groundworks services, we always ensure the correct drainage system is installed, thereby protecting your new sand school for many years to come.
Exercising your horse and keeping it fit and active can be a challenge as we move into winter. But a horse walker helps to warm up and exercise your pony in a safe and controlled area, and it also allows you to exercise multiple horses at a time. Perfect when the days are short and daylight is limited.
When you buy your first horse walker, you will need a concrete base (also known as a ground bearing slab); this is a circular concrete structure with a hole in the middle, much like a polo mint!
In the centre, there is a structural concrete pad, which supports the central spinning post. When the horse walker is installed, it will usually cover the concrete slab with rubber matting to protect its hooves.
You will also need a power supply to the central concrete pad, which we can help you with.
Keeping your horse healthy:
Ensuring your horse has a plentiful supply of fresh, clean drinking water is as essential in the colder winter months as in summer. Please don’t walk around in the mud with a bucket; let us install water troughs in each paddock and your stables, along with associated pipework.
We can also ensure that the foundations of your horse’s stable blocks are solid, keeping it warm and dry. We supply concrete stable bases throughout West Sussex.
