Gravel is one of the most popular driveway choices in the UK. Not only is gravel one of the cost-effective materials available and it also looks great. There are a few colours and sizes available, and if properly maintained, it can last a long time.
Unlike most other types of driveways, repairs are not a concern for gravel. However, they do require the most on-going maintenance. Gravel driveways need regular raking, and weeds can grow within the gravel, but with a residual weedkiller, they can usually be kept under control.
Gravel drives have a unique benefit of adding home security. Some police and security services recommend gravel driveways as the audible sound made while walking over gravel deters potential burglars.
