At Timberley Projects, we are specialists in both commercial groundworks and residential groundworks working throughout Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. Part of our role as groundworks specialists includes offering drainage services.
Drainage is essential for most projects that we work on throughout Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. Effective drainage solutions can help guide surface and foul water to the correct destination. Without proper planning, problems can occur down the line. Planning is an essential part of the process we follow with any job we undertake.
Drainage Services we offer:
Designed installations
If there is not an engineer’s design in place already, we can look at planning your drainage system for you. We ensure that the levels work, taking care to design a system for you and your project correctly. Poor drainage can cause a heap of issues. These can include ground contamination, flooding, and sewage blockages, all of which can cause damage to a building or your home.
Sewage treatment plants
This process is similar to the way that a septic tank works, but mechanical components provide an additional method to help break down solids to produce a cleaner, more environmentally friendly effluent which can be discharged into an open watercourse, for example, a ditch, stream or even a river. You will, of course, require the correct discharge license for this, which we can organise for you.
Rainwater harvesting tank
Having a rainwater harvesting tank helps reduce water consumption and means you can re-use water in activities such as watering your garden, flushing toilets and washing clothes all of this helps to improve our environment. Something we all love to try and do. There are different types of rainwater harvesting tanks ranging from the simple one to include feeding one outside tap to fill up your watering can or wash your car to the more complicated installation which will supply your whole house including your toilet cisterns, washing machine and outside taps for gardens and outside use. Maybe even topping up the swimming pools!
Septic tanks
These are often made from fibreglass. The installation often occurs when discharge cannot go into an open watercourse, i.e., a ditch. During installation, you also have to install an underground drainage field/soakaway system, which is often constructed in a herringbone pattern from perforated pipe surrounded with shingle. The foul water flows from the home into the septic tank through the sewer pipe. Bacteria found naturally in the wastewater work to break the solids down. A sludge guzzler empties a septic tank annually.
Mains drain connections (including work required in the highway)
If you are lucky enough to be able to connect your drainage to the mains drains, then this is a trouble-free way of getting rid of sewage and greywater. It also provides an efficient way of disposing of material that would otherwise be difficult to treat.
Cesspools/Sewage Holding Tank
Sometimes a property has no natural drainage capability. It may lay on thick clay or sometimes there is no watercourse to discharge into. In these cases a cesspool is advisable. This is a holding tank that requires pumping out when it is full.
